Historically website development has been part of the Volunteer Information Specialists Committee. In recent years, responsibility of overseeing the creation, approval, and maintenance of websites has grown. So the Web Site Development Committee was born. Our job is to help chapters develop and maintain websites and assist them with gaining website approval. We make sure sites are sharing up-to-date information, are following protocol, and are of high quality. Also, we maintain the state websites.
Thank you for making this the best year ever. As of 2006, 89% of the districts and chapters are represented on the Internet through websites or email contacts. Chesapeake, Scotchtown, Spotsylvania, Blue Ridge, Allegheny, Virginia’s Old Carolina Road, Augusta Parish, Thomas Carter and District VI had websites approved this year. A total of 3 districts and 57 chapters, or 44% of the chapters, have websites that provide valuable information for prospective and current members alike. 23 chapter sites are in development and 23 chapters want websites built for them. 118 chapters reported having email contacts.
Websites provided opportunities to gain new members. 25 chapters reported receiving contacts through their chapter websites which resulted in 89 visits, 31 pending applications and 25 new members.
We couldn’t have done it without your help! Your tremendous efforts on behalf of this committee are greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Remember - websites carry the DAR message to the world. Make yours count!
