Cameo Club

Virginia Daughters of the American Revolution

 History

At the close of the 1995 VADAR State Conference, Mrs. Calhoun J. Killeen, a member of the Freedom Hill Chapter, NSDAR, proposed to Mrs. Stephen R. Hunter, State Regent, VADAR, the organizing of a VADAR Cameo Club. The State Regent enthusiastically agreed to approve Mrs. Killeen's proposal in 1998 if enough Virginia Daughters expressed interest in forming a Cameo Club. Word began to spread and many Daughters expressed interest.

On February 9, 1998, the State Regent mailed a Cameo Club Interest and Luncheon Reservation Form to prospective members of the Cameo Club. It informed them of an organizing meeting and luncheon to be held at the 102nd State Conference in Richmond, Virginia. The State Regent approved Mrs. Killeen as Organizing President and presiding officer.

Eighty-three Virginia Daughters attended this organizing meeting and luncheon. The 1998-2000 officers were elected, the Cameo Club Bylaws were approved, formal membership applications were distributed, and a delightful luncheon followed.
