Welcome to the website of the New River Pioneer Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution!

The New River Pioneer Chapter is named after the river which runs through Grayson and surrounding counties and for the pioneers who settled the area. The chapter, founded in 1969, was started by Organizing Regent Luemma Phipps. We meet at various locations in Grayson County.

New River Pioneer Chapter recognizes and honors veterans, sponsors local schools, and enlightens students to the importance of our American history and heritage. The chapter has a long history of volunteerism, including making charitable contributions to DAR schools, helping to preserve historical landmarks, and volunteering many hours towards community service. We host speakers on various historical and present-day topics at our monthly meetings. Deceased chapter members are honored with a memorial service and grave-marking, and we also mark historical sites and graves of Revolutionary War soldiers.

Please join us at our meetings which are held on the second Saturday of each month from March to December at 1:00 p.m. For more information contact our chapter registrar, Susan Story.

Do you have a Revolutionary War patriot in your family tree? Membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) honors and preserves the legacy of your patriot ancestor. Over two hundred years ago American patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. As a member of the DAR, through participation in our various programs and activities, you can continue this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavors. Any woman is eligible for membership who is no less than 18 years of age and can prove lineal, blood line descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. She must provide acceptable documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death.

The first step to membership in the DAR is to gather the genealogical information that you already have and contact our chapter regent or chapter registrar. She will guide you through the application process and answer any questions you may have. You do not need to have completed your genealogical research in order to start the application process toward becoming a Daughter. We do require that you have a patriot to complete the application process.

For more information on how you can become a member of the NSDAR, contact our registrar, Susan Story, or visit the NSDAR Become a Member page.
