The Thomas Lee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1957. Like other local chapters of the DAR, our chapter name has historical significance. Our chapter was named for Thomas Lee, a prominent Virginia official and American patriot in the 1700s.
Located in Fairfax, Virginia, we work locally, regionally and nationally to carry out the core DAR mission objectives of promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children. We do this through specific projects and programs that make a real and measurable difference in our community. Our many ongoing programs include volunteer work with veterans, scholarships and other financial aid to students, and supporting schools for underserved children with donations to improve their education.
We at the Thomas Lee Chapter of the DAR invite your interest in sharing our goals of patriotism, education, and historic preservation. An excellent way to find out what we are all about and confirm your interest in the DAR is to attend one of our regular meetings as our guest! If you would like to join us for a chapter meeting or would like more information about DAR and our chapter, please contact Stephanie Crews, chapter regent; she would love to hear from you. If you want more information about genealogy and to answer any questions you might have regarding membership please contact Sarah Dickens, chapter registrar.
We have monthly meetings the second week of each month from September through May, alternating between Saturday luncheon meetings and Thursday evening meetings. Each meeting includes an interesting special program segment, usually featuring a guest speaker, on topics relevant to the DAR mission and of general interest to our chapter and the community at large.
We thank you for your interest and invite you to learn more about the DAR and our local chapter through the links on this website or by contacting us.
