Membership

Do you have a Revolutionary War patriot in your family tree? Membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) honors and preserves the legacy of your patriot ancestor. Over two hundred years ago American patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. As a member of the DAR, through participation in our various programs and activities, you can continue this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavors. Any woman is eligible for membership who is no less than 18 years of age and can prove lineal, blood line descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. She must provide acceptable documentation for each statement of birth, marriage, and death.

We invite prospective members to contact the chapter registrar for genealogical help, although the applicant is responsible for obtaining her own legal documents. Documents are needed to prove parentage and events for each generation. Birth, death and marriage certificates prove the topical events and dates for each generation. Prior to the states’ requirements of maintaining vital statistics, usually 1900, an applicant can use census records, bible records, court records, historical records, church records, and the like to prove events and lineage.

Please contact chapter regent, Mary Elizabeth Seip, for more informatoin.
