Do you have a Revolutionary War patriot in your family tree? Membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) honors and preserves the legacy of your patriot ancestor. Over two hundred years ago, American patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. As a member of DAR, through participation in the Society’s various programs and activities, you can continue this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavors. The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is a volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better American history education.

• Founded in 1890, there are approximately 175,000 members in 3,000 chapters located across the United States and around the world.
  
  
• The original Congressional Charter tasks the NSDAR to locate the unmarked graves of revolutionary soldiers and their wives and to report these findings to the Smithsonian and Congress.
  
  
• DAR members and chapters support historic restorations and act to preserve historic Revolutionary War landmarks. The DAR provides scholarships to outstanding students and supports citizenship.
  
  
• Women age 18 or over who are directly descended from a person who aided in establishing American independence are eligible for membership.
