Why Join the DAR?
The Daughters of the American Revolution is a society to perpetuate the memory and spirit of the men
and women who achieved American independence, to promote the development of an enlightened public
opinion, and to foster patriotic citizenship. Over two hundred years ago, American patriots fought and
sacrificed for the freedoms
we enjoy today.
As a member of DAR, through participation in the Society’s various programs and activities,
you can continue
this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavor.
DAR members are educators, students, professionals, mothers, historians, genealogists, and homemakers who take
an active role in their communities promoting our objectives of patriotism, education, and historic preservation.
With almost 3,000 chapters throughout the world, and with almost 170,000 members, we are one of the largest women's
service organizations in the world.
Membership in DAR offers a number of benefits, including:
1. Promoting American history throughout the year by honoring historically significant
places, dates, and events.
2. Participating in commemorative events such as Flag Day, Veterans Day, and the 4th of July.
3. The satisfaction of active participation in meaningful service projects within our community.
