Princess Anne County was created by the Colony of Virginia in 1691. The borders of Princess Anne County began to evolve in 1694 and continued as such until the 20th century. On January 1, 1963, the historic county of Princess Anne and the oceanfront town of Virginia Beach combined to become the city of Virginia Beach. We are proud to honor the name Princess Anne County and to help preserve it for future generations.
