The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is a volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education.

Founded in 1890, there are approximately 175,000 members in 3,000 chapters located across the United States and around the world.

The original congressional charter tasks the NSDAR to locate the unmarked graves of Revolutionary War soldiers and their wives, and to report these findings to the Smithsonian and Congress.

DAR members and chapters support historic restorations and act to preserve historic Revolutionary War landmarks.

The DAR provides scholarships to outstanding students and supports citizenship.

DAR members are women over 18 who are directly descended from a person who aided in establishing American independence.

Visit DAR's "Work of the Society" page for more information on our volunteer projects.
