Welcome to the Amherst Chapter NSDAR!

Amherst Chapter, NSDAR was organized in Amherst County, Virginia, on January 5, 1963, with 18 charter members. The members selected our chapter name in recognition of our county name. Amherst County was formed in 1761 and named in honor of Lord Jeffery Amherst, Crown Governor of Virginia 1759-1768.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 and is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year. The organization strives to promote historical preservation, education, and patriotism.
