Our National Society The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is a lineage society devoted to preserving history, fostering patriotism, and promoting education. The work of the Society is largely carried out by its nearly 3,000 chapters. To become a member of the NSDAR, a woman must prove blood descent from a person who rendered patriotic service during the American Revolution, and she must be at least 18 years old. Our Chapter History Our chapter was chartered on October 2, 1895. It is the oldest and largest chapter in Lynchburg. It was named after the Blue Ridge Mountains. Our members represent all ages and have served and continue to serve the DAR on the district and state level. We undertake many projects to preserve history, foster patriotism and promote education. We have remembered our veterans with a cemetery monument; restored an 18th century spring house; co-sponsored Poplar Forest's first Naturalization Ceremony; and co-sponsored the annual Wreaths Across America event at the Old City Cemetery. |
